Around Newton Abbot

Lying between the moors and the sea, the town of Newton Abbot has a remarkable history. Born at the turn of the 19th century, out of the amalgamation of two towns on either side of the River Lemon, it thrived for many years on its links with Newfoundland and the cod fisheries.
