Remorse is a novel about a father who knows that he has not done right by his only daughter.

Hans Larsen is 72 years old, just out of jail after doing time. In the same city as him his daughter Marianne is trying to keep life together for herself and her little daughter. Hans knows that the best he can do is to stay away. But it is not easy, as he really wants to see his daughter and granddaughter. So he starts spying on them, through a mediator.

Marianne wants nothing to do with her father. But she has some remorse of her own, so she asks her boyfriend to spy on Hans. I the middle of all this Hans falls in love with a woman his own age. He is almost starting to see life in a bright way, the little he has left of it.

The father and daughter are driven closer, unwillingly and indirectly. The question is if there can be a form of reconciliation between them. Or maybe it in the end takes a miracle.
