William Wilkie Collins is a classic of nineteenth-century English literature who went down in history as the founder of modern detective literature. The key to the success of Collins'' works, from which he wrote twenty-three novels and four collections of short stories and short stories, was the combination of different genres: the writer skillfully combined melodrama, detective story, and moral character novel in his books, generously seasoning them with elements of the Gothic novel.
