The 18th century Scottish poet Robert Burns entered the history of world literature as a true patriot of his people. Coming from a family just a peasant, he devoted all his life to poetry: he sang odes to his native land, branded folly and ignorance, composed beautiful ballads about love, and carefully preserved Scottish folklore. Creativity Burns, like his name, is known to the whole world, and in Russia they were able to appreciate the beauty of his rhymes thanks to Marshak''s translations.
