All Gilyarovsky

Vladimir Alekseevich Gilyarovsky (1855–1935) - Russian writer, journalist, well-known descriptor of Moscow customs. In like-minded circles, he was known by the nickname "Uncle Gilyay." A colorful personality, a skillful humorist and satirist, Gilyarovsky served as the prototype of the ataman Sirko for the painting by Zaporozhtsy (1891) by Ilya Repin. Other narratives are combined in the literary collections "Moscow and Muscovites", "People of the Theater".
