Three signs that anyone who met him was one of the great men, and he had a right to immortality: the imposition of admiration from his lovers and disciples, the extreme hatred of his envious people and those who denounced him, and an atmosphere of secrets and mysteries surrounding him as if he were one of the supernatural creatures whom the describers are confused about and exaggerate their ability to transcend humanity. They attribute that ability sometimes to divine miracles, sometimes to magic and soothsaying, and sometimes to the strangeness of nature if they do not believe in what is beyond it.These three signs are attributed to Abu Al-Ala in a rare way in the history of Arab culture, in which only a few wise men and poets join him.
