Åbo Båtvarf, operating from 1889 to 1954, was the biggest boatyard in the Nordic countries and a major player throughout Europe. Over 5,000 boats were built at the yard. Its activities have played a significant role in the development of Finnish pleasure boats and racing boats. The spectrum of production ranged from rowboats and lifeboats as well as gunboats and torpedo boats to luxurious sailing yachts and motor cruisers.
