Sulfa drugs were the first ever-synthetic chemicals scientifically used for the cure and prevention of bacterial infections in human beings. It's been estimated that sulfa drugs contribute 16-21% of annual antibiotic usage, making sulfa drugs as the most important group of antibiotics consumed by humans. By 1940s sulfonamides (sulfa drugs) were widely used as drugs all over the world. Sulfa drugs became standard in first-aid kits during World War II for treating open wounds and intestinal infections inflected during the course of the war. The significance of designing, synthesizing, and applicability of sulfa drugs in our day to day life and literature survey results encourage the researchers to outspread their ideas of synthesizing sulfa drugs with the improved mode of action and kaleidoscopic biological potencies by incorporating different heterocyclic ring systems such as the Pyrimidine, Oxadiazoles, Piperazine, 1,2,4-Triazoles and many more.
