A potential source for alternative medicines

Although fascinating insights have evolved within tribal communities into their ethnic medicine, their applications are largely based on empirical evidence. In order to scientifically determine the ethnobotanical claims, thorough extraction, followed by identification and characterization of bioactive components of medicinal plants is required. We utilized such processes to evaluate the potential of our selected medicinal plant. Our study represents the first formal pharmacological evaluation to support the latter of indication.
