Each chapter has a brief synopsis followed by commentary on such topics as Technology, Unusual Terms and Phrases, Biblical References, et cetera. Each volume has an appendix, giving Timelines and sometimes essays. Both series have an appendix as well, giving combined Timelines and additional essays
