280,000 people were determined to queue no matter the conditions. 280,000 people were there to witness and take part in a historical moment. 280,000 people felt they had to be there.

These numbers comprise the people who queued for as many as 24 hours to file past the coffin of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history. At its peak the queue stretched for 10 miles though London.

In addition to the many thousands that formed ‘The Queue’ there are millions of others with a story to tell about how this monarch had touched their own lives.
