Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. It would be presumptuous to present this book as a History of Costume. It attempts no such colossal task. It is equally absurd to claim for it a thorough, technical, psychological treatment of any one period or group of periods. It makes no such boast.
