Old Florence and Modern Tuscany

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Some may think my pictures of the Tuscan peasants flattering and highly coloured. I can only say that I have lived among them for thirty-four years, and that nowhere does the golden rule, DO as you would be done by, hold good so much as in Italy.
