Jude the Obscure

The novel describes the tragic life of Jude, a rural youth with a sorrowful tone. Jude pays much attention to thinking and studying. However, he is still refused outside the university. The heroine, Sue, is beautiful and clever. More importantly, she has independent personality and minds. She is contempt of rigid secular and religion. But the church disagrees with the love between her and Jude. Jude has no way to achieve his ambulation and his dream and has no means to borrow money. In despair, his eldest son, younger sister and brother hang themselves together. Sue eventually surrenders to fate and church after encountering the disaster, leaving her lover,Jude and abandoning free minds and independent personalities. Jude gets sick and drunk all day and eventually dies with sorrow in less than thirty.
