After retiring from the NFL, Micah Bryant accepts the head football coaching job at his former high school. Enthusiastic about bringing the glory days back to his beloved Marshall Academy, he develops a close bond with one of his players. Theo Granger was a bright and exceptional player, and Micah is excited about his future. After running into Theo at a restaurant with his family, Micah is blown away by his mothers beauty, enamored by her intelligence, and more than pleased to find out that shes a widowed single mother. The struggles of day-to-day living were taking its toll on Catorra Granger. A widowed mother of two, she is fortunate to land a job doing what she loved, which was teaching. While fiercely protective of her developmentally challenged eleven-year-old daughter, Chanel, Catorra is equally challenged by her complicated feelings for one very desirable high school football coach. After agreeing to attend the restaurant opening of Micahs brother, Catorra is captivated by this charismatic, virile chocolate Adonis. Not willing to take another chance on love, she makes a conscious decision to avoid Micah at all costs. When Micah discovers shes purposely shunning him, he too makes a conscious effort to win her over. But when a near tragedy arises, Micah comes to the rescue and Catorra sees him in a different light.
