This book is to emerge from the activities of Research Committee on Housing and Built Environment of International Sociological Association (ISA). The book will be of use to both students of housing and to urban policy-makers in the Third World Countries. The papers in this collection fall into three broad groups. Part I provides papers which give analytical overviews of the topic while Part II contains contributions which refer to contexts in which the provisions of housino may be usefully set. Part III presents papers which propose solutions to the problems of housing provision. The contributors are drawn from a wide range of countries and disciplines.
