Nicknamed 'The Richest Hill on Earth,' Butte was once among the world's largest copper producers and a thriving industrial metropolis in the undeveloped west. Working with the Butte-Silver Bow Public Archives and the World Museum of Mining, authors and Butte residents Matt Vincent and Chad Okrusch show here how the gritty town has weathered many booms and busts, celebrating its rich history while also dealing with the environmental legacies of its industrial age.
