In numerous African nations, the aspirations of young individuals are often frustrated by systemic issues such as ineffective leadership and governance. Awaiting Dawn delves into the fictional journey of Meme, a talented student whose hopes for a better future are dashed by tragedy when his father passes away unexpectedly. Facing barriers like biased governmental policies and economic hardships, Meme is compelled to abandon his academic dreams and pursue a trade, like many others in his situation. However, a chance encounter with Mr. Njoku, his best friend's father, alters his course dramatically. With Mr. Njoku's connection, Meme secures a rare government scholarship and seizes the opportunity to move to the United States to pursue his desired education. Reuniting with old friends Ify, his secondary school crush and Ike in the U.S. reignites Meme's sense of purpose and optimism, propelling him toward his goals once again.
