"e;You may be good at something, we've yet to find out what it is...."e; Bill Bailey's Latin teacher's assessment of his pupil when he left school was not very encouraging. Fortunately Bill Bailey found a great many things he was good at: a full and varied career as a chartered mechanical engineer training with Frank Whittle's Power Jets, then moving on to work with Austin motorcars , Alvis aero engines and Massey Ferguson farm machinery. Outside of work he was a racing cyclist, mountaineer, traveller, fisherman and family man. Told as a series of often amusing anecdotes this is a great read following a life where he was paid to do for a living what many would be happy to do as a hobby.
