World's Worst Board

Whether one owns a townhouse, raw land in a subdivision, a gated-community home, a shack in zoned agricultural jungle, or part stake in a condominium complex, the majority of people who live there are often not thrilled about the few folks set up as authority figures known as: The Board. It is a universally known truism that the members of such "Boards" have been known to try and institute and enforce rules which perhaps suit them more than they suit everyone else (such as what colors they prefer to see everyone's homes painted, and whether or not neighbors should be allowed to put up a laundry line or raise chickens). As a governing body, they are also universally known to revise homeowner fees...ever upwards.So I was thrilled when I moved to a rural area where there were still subdivisions that did not have these kinds of mandatory rules or fees...even though a voluntary homeowner Board did exist to organize things like road maintenance . "This is the 'hood for me " I thought, signing on the dotted line to purchase my very own little rustic mecca in the tropical wilds.
