Wissen im Herzen der Dichtung

Francesco Petrarca, Gaspara Stampa und Giovan Battista Marino bedichten nicht nur liebende, brechende und sich verzehrende, sondern auch seufzende, kochende und kopulierende Herzen. In diskurshistorischer Perspektive kann das Herz in der petrarkistischen Dichtung als epistemologischer Kristallisationspunkt untersucht werden, an dem sich das zeitgenössische Wissen vom menschlichen Körper und der ihn umgebenden Welt ablagert. Der Suche nach den an der Herzdarstellung ablesbaren Wissensbeständen liegt die These zu Grunde, dass das menschliche Herz bis zur Entdeckung seiner physiologischen Funktionsweise im Jahr 1628 ein enormes Metaphorisierungspotential bot und religiöse, naturphilosophische, medizinische und nicht zuletzt erotische Aspekte problemlos integrieren konnte.Francesco Petrarca, Gaspara Stampa and Giovan Battista Marino not only write poetry about loving, breaking, longing but also sighing, raging and copulating hearts. In a discourse-historical perspective the heart can be analysed in the Petrarchan poetry as an epistemological crystallisation point where the contemporary knowledge of the human body and its surrounding environment is located. The inquiry on the readable knowledge of the presentation of the heart is based on the thesis, that the human heart, until the discovery of its physical functions in the year 1628 offered, an enormous potential for metaphors and could easily integrate religious, nature philosophical, medical and last but not least erotic aspects.
