Will Turn Hell into Paradise

Here is a set of poems that moves the reader deeply-with hope and pain. They are intimate, emotional, and well-crafted. Akbar has genuine poetry in him, and I have no doubt he will soon find a respectable place among the Malayalam poets available in English, who, unfortunately, are too few.

Akbar's poetry is simple, deeply communicative with the contemporary world, and universal in its reach. What I admire most is the simplicity of expression in these poems. A positive attitude is another defining quality. At a time when the world fears another war, Akbar writes, "Will turn hell into paradise, just wait " He wishes for a life "silent like love and detached like God."
