Why Of The Beholder

After psychologist Bill Taggart begins working at the Maybrook Psychiatric Facility, it becomes apparent that what he learned in graduate school has ill-prepared him for the extraordinary cases that await him. His dysfunctional childhood and an estranged relationship with his troubled brother complicate his effectiveness as a clinician.

When Bill crosses paths with Chuck, a war veteran many years his senior, a friendship blossoms out of their shared, if different, experience with loss. Chuck reveals a long-held secret involving his granddaughter Cassie when she was a teenager, sending Bill on a fact-finding mission. But rather than a clear-cut answer, Bill unexpectedly finds something much more complicated. An unexpected romance forms between Bill and Cassie, one born from a tragic event and a death shrouded in mystery.

When the truth comes out, Bill, Cassie, and Chuck are all left to answer the same questions:

What does it mean to help someone? And how far will they go to protect the ones they love?
