Welfare Became My Stepping Stone

This is a true story of how a young woman faced the abandonment of a husband who left her with two small children while she was pregnant with her third child. With no money, with limited working skills, and three children now to provide for, Gladys called on all the help she can get. With her faith in God and encouragement and help from her family and others, she faced the situation. She swallowed her pride and applied a public welfare. She vowed it would be her steppingstone to a better life for her and her children. And it was! After her baby was born, she attended school in order to become a vocational nurse. She found a good paying job and a whole lot of self-respect. Before long, she was o of welfare with more money and pride than she has ever known before. Gladys shares her ups and downs with her story and advice and spiritual strength especially to those women who are presentably receiving government assistance from public welfare.
