This book has been written for English speakers who go to live in Sweden as adults, so as to help them take part in a wide range of everyday conversations. Over 80 topics are included!

These start with the usual meeting and greeting phrases, and go on to cover many different activities such as choosing an apartment, starting a child at school, setting up a business and even going to a birthday party. Whatever situation may arise, from a car needing repairs, a political discussion or attending a funeral the reader can prepare for it by looking up the relevant section with its natural-sounding phrases to suit each occasion, often with a long list of extra words that can come in useful.

We have taken special care that the English equivalents given are also natural- sounding, and have given alternatives in some cases, such as where different English-speaking countries vary in choice of words. In this way we hope that the book will prove useful to as many people as possible - and also to Swedish speakers who want to brush up on their conversational skills in English.
