Uprooted

It's 1977. Separatism in Canada is alive and well. PIERRE LEVESQUE, fifteen years of age, is uprooted from his native province of Quebec to Toronto after the sudden death of his father. He hates to part from his grandfather and his dog, Cicero, both whom he loves very much. In Toronto Pierre struggles with an education system characterized by bureaucracy, incompetence, and irrelevancies. He and two friends poke fun at teachers and their idiosyncrasies, and satirize education precepts which in effect stifle creativity and initiative. The trio succeeds in alleviating boredom, while exposing at the same time, the inadequacies and shortcomings of an education system that's harmful to them. A series of outrageous episodes reveals Pierre's tragic predicament of having to exist in an environment hostile to his uncomplicated personality. He wants to go back home. But when his mother informs him that she intends to marry MR. FINDERNE, the restaurateur for whom she works, his hopes of ever returning home are shattered.
