University students and their characteristics

Based on the Business Administration course, which has the highest number of students enrolled in Brazil, this study aimed to understand and study the socioeconomic profile of university students. To this end, a sample of students who entered the first semester of 2014.1 was selected. The survey consisted of 30 questions asked to students, as well as information collected from the HEI administration. The survey looked at aspects such as gender, shift studied, age, marital status, whether they are parents, colour, place of residence, means of transport to college, whether they attended secondary school at a public or private school, whether they have a computer and DVD player at home, family income, health insurance, paid work, profession and level of education of parents, how they obtain information for their education, whether they have a scholarship, whether they are satisfied with the course, whether they intend to take another higher education course and whether they would recommend the HEI they are studying at.
