Understanding Disciplines & School Organization

The text book highlights concepts like hard V/S soft discipline, pure V/S applied discipline, interdisciplinary, cross disciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches. It depicts major school subjects - Nature and History. Attempts have been made to compare school subjects and academic disciplines. A separate chapter on emerging disciplines like nanotechnology, gemmology, disaster management and bioinformatics has been added. The second parts encompasses important aspects of school organisation like educational management, institutional climate, performance appraisal of teacher, institutional planning and record keeping. Due attention has been paid to include recent trends in school organisation and concepts like total quality management, swot analysis, quality audit, school management committee and school development plan have been discussed. A separate block is given for physical and health education to cover topics like physical activity and exercises, life style diseases and their management, food and nutrition, first aid training, postural deformities and yoga education.
