Understanding Commercial Bank Financial Management

This book strives to understand the financial management practices of a private commercial bank functioning in Bangladesh in context of operating performance, credit-deposit mix, asset quality, treasury performance, capital adequacy, and management of liquidity risk, interest risk, and market risk. Prime Bank Limited (PBL), a private commercial bank of Bangladesh, is studied in this respect for five years (2010-14). After relevant analysis, the bank is suggested to give special focus in the areas of operating performance, credit risk management, asset quality management, and provisioning practices for boosting operating income, increasing the credit worthy borrowers, decreasing classified loans, and related provisions.
