Treatment of low back pain

It is a very prevalent problem and can cause disability. More than 90 per cent of the world's population suffers from low back pain at some point in their lives and low back pain is the second most frequent cause of seeking medical attention. Low back pain can be defined as pain in the lumbar region, i.e. the lower part of the spine near the pelvis. It is also known as "lumbago", "back pain", "kidney pain" or "pain in the quarters". The pain can extend to the buttocks, the back of the thighs, but not much further than the knee, without compromising a specific nerve path.
