Al-Jahiz Basri was born and died in Basra, where he grew up and graduated, and where he wrote most of his works.. Between the halves of the second and third centuries, Al-Jahiz excelled when "Iraq was the eye of the world and Basra was the eye of Iraq." It is self-evident that someone who had Al-Jahiz''s intelligence, instinctive acumen, and love of exploring things and searching for the sublime and the insignificant, and who saw with his own eyes what was brought to Iraq from the outskirts of the country, and what was exported from it to all other horizons, would be worthy of informing us with all skill and precision about precious stones, precious things, and anecdotes. Precious goods and expensive feathers, and about their nature and their prices in his time, although he was not satisfied with merely mentioning the stores and their sources, but rather he added in the explanation and pointed out the created ones of jewels and rubies, and the adulterated ones of perfumes and drugs, and differentiated between the high ones, the average ones, and the bad ones, so he added to the experience the artistry, and to the knowledge. Foresight, which is the subject of his book "Foresight in Trade."It is no wonder then that this message included many benefits of interest to the leaders of industry and commerce, as well as those working in economics, and those searching for the relations of the Islamic world at the time of its abundance of civilization and the height of its civilization with the rest of the kingdoms.
