Topical medicaments can be defined as the application of a drug containing formulation to the skin to directly treat cutaneous disorders with the intent of containing the pharmacological or other effects of drug to the surface of the skin or within the skin.The skin is one of the most easily accessible routes for drug delivery through topical delivery systems which is most common. Chemicals entering through the skin are assumed to pass through the stratum corneum, which has long been thought to be the most critical barrier. The presence of stratum corneum on the surface, on the other hand, makes it selective towards previously delivered drugs or delivery methods.
