Tongue and its examination (Jihva Pariksha) as per Ayurvedic Samhitas

Diabetes mellitus is a major burden over the society; tongue examination with relation to Agni may provide useful measures in identified cases for tongue features changes. Jivha pariksha (Tongue examination) is one of the tools for diagnosis of disease and assessment of Agni (Digestion power). It is an invaluable indicator of health and disease as per Ayurveda. It is said that tongue is like a mirror to have the knowledge of doshic states in gastrointestinal tract and the current study discusses the examination in details.
