5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping from Beginning to End
"Tombstoning is the best kind of crime novel...grabs you early on, loads of nasty characters who seem okay initially...couldn't put it down "
5.0 out of 5 stars A good page-turner
"A fun read, Tombstoning, the first of a trilogy, is primarily about a city detective's quest to find the killer/s of a well-liked surfer in a small east-coast Australian surfing town. A surfer herself, the detective comes across an array of people and circumstances ending up in a much bigger and messier situation than expected. Paced well with twists in the plot that keep you turning the page, the book gives you some often fun and enviable insights into the laid-back coastal Australian lifestyle. Maybe we'll see them explored more fully in the follow-up "
4.0 out of 5 stars A new author has nailed his first book - great plot - the love of ocean and surfing shines through.
"A friend referred this book to me - a new author's first book .. I was a bit sceptical at first but it turned out to be a great read. The plot was intriguing with unexpected twists and turns. The lead character Ange was likeable & you wanted to urge her on to solve the mystery. Some unlikeable characters added balance - with a little romance thrown in.
Author Peter seems knowledgable on the book plot(s) and his obvious love of the ocean & surfing shines through.
There were some jumps in the story line that seem to come from nowhere and some of the characters lacked a little depth .... but overall I will look forward to reading the next edition of the Saltwater Crimes."
