Three Years' Wanderings in the Northern Provinces of China

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The Author has been much gratified with the favourable manner in which the first edition of his work has been received by the public. It has been suggested by his friends, that it would be desirable in a new edition to enter more fully into the subject of Tea. He has therefore given some statistical information, tending to show the quantity of this production which is consumed by the Chinese themselves, as well as what they could spare for the European market, in the event of a greater demand arising from the reduction of tea duties. Attention has also been directed to our dominions in the north-west of India, which seem to possess all the requisites of a tea country. These, and some other additions which have been made to the work, will, it is hoped, render it more interesting.
