This anthology offers five of the best known plays by Chilean author Marco Antonio de la Parra in translation: "The Raw, The Cooked, and The Rotten" (1978), "Secret Obscenities" (1984), "Every Young Woman's Desire" (1986), "King Kong Palace" (1990), and "Dostoevski Goes to the Beach" (1990). Accompanying the translations are six essays by scholars in the field of Latin American theatre who offer keen insights into the complex world of the playwright/novelist/psychiatrist de la Parra.
