The Stewardship of Home Schooling: Teaching, Inspiring, Motivating, and More: Real Stories from Successful Parents

This is a book about the stewardship of parenting, but specifically aimed at education. It contains stories of the individual experiences of parents who have been working hard to fulfill the requirements of that stewardship, in this case most directly through home schooling. However, it must be realized that every parent participates in education in the home, either as a practice of full-time teaching or as a supplement to regular public or charter school student involvement. There are three arenas: full-time home schooling; home schooling blended with public or charter school; and parent to child teaching as an on-going practice. Adopting a growth mindset should be an overall goal for the parent who wishes to teach, inspire, and motivate his or her children. Parents, both mothers and fathers, teach their children largely through example, but there is also the opportunity to inspire them to search out, not only knowledge, but also understanding and eventually wisdom. There is the opportunity to motivate children during the time they are growing in stature to develop mentally and to become self-directed lifelong learners. The world today is changing in ways that were never imagined a few decades ago. We live in the information age and the pace of information availability is increasing at an expanding rate and will only continue to do so.
