The Soul

This book is a collection of some of my poetry and photos. I began writing as a young man in high school. Photography came much later. Growing up in poverty I was angry and often found myself in fights and getting into trouble. One day my mother suggested that I try to use my hands and write instead of fighting. Hard as it may have been, I took her advice (for the most part). I found that I enjoy writing and have continued to write. The contents of my art are a product of my past and of my present. My art is a view of things that I have seen; some things that I have experienced and an interpretation of some things I have been told. It contains questions that I have pondered as well as lessons that I have learned. It contains dreams and fantasies. It contains reality and truth. It contains happiness. It contains pain. It is about love. It is about hate. It is about life. It is about death. My art is from inside my soul. As you read my writing and view my photos I hope it causes you to smile and cry, think and feel. Many people wish to have had a better if not different life. I myself am truly thankful for the life I have had thus far for it has enriched me. When it is all said and done I know I can say I have experienced life. I have laughed. I have cried. I have been angry. I have been afraid. I have loved. I have lived. It is true the world is full of pain. Remember when you find yourself in the mist of this pain you must look above and beyond it. Then reach back and touch your shoulders and you will find you have wings to rise above it.
