The olive fly and its host plant

The olive tree is typical of the Mediterranean basin. However, this tree is susceptible to attack by a very dangerous pest, the olive fly (Bactrocera oleae). This document takes a look at this pest in terms of its host plant, morphology, phenology, the factors affecting its development and damage, and some proposed means of control.
