Adriana Carter grew up in the foster system. Despite this, she worked hard and made a good life for herself, even landing a job as a consultant with the FBI.

One day, she made a horrible mistake and her only chance at redemption was in the form of a suspected criminal mastermind, Agostino Gismondi. She takes to Northern Italy and eventually makes a connection with Signore Gismondi.

As she gets to know him and his sons, her resolve starts to waver, as she finds the lines between who she is, and who she could be, start to blur.
