The Ethos effect

Following the unfortunate, yet unavoidable destruction of a civilian liner during a short but brutal space battle, Commander Van C. Albert is resigned to a life away from the military. But then Van takes command of a starship for the Integrated Information Systems foundation and finds he is closer to the action than he ever was in the Space Force.
