The epicentre of the Central Hotel

This text discusses the presence of contemporary literature from the 1940s, mainly the influence of existentialist philosophy, in the literature of young poets who published in the literary supplement Arte-Literatura, which circulated with the newspaper Folha do Norte between 1946 and 1951. This work of social history of literature seeks to visualise in the literature of the young people of the Turma do Central a disenchantment with their recent past, both in the political-social and literary spheres. The work also analyses the role of the Arte-Literatura supplement in updating and forming the intellectual identity of these young people, who enabled new directions for local literature.
