The Elephant and an AK47: And other Recollections

The author worked as a barrow boy at Birmingham's fruit and veg markets, a scientist for a rubber tyre manufacturer, a deckhand on sea-going ferries, a door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman, a materials-handling engineer project managing million-dollar contracts, an executive-search headhunter for the global oil & gas industry, a hobby tree-farmer restoring the Northern Rivers 'Big Scrub'. He worked in the UK, Europe, Canada, North America, the Middle East, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. Here are a few recollections from someone who didn't know what he wanted to do until he retired.
