Sungura Mjanjah: A Lesson in Conservation
Kilimanjaro, kiliman, kiliman. Kilimanjaro, kiliman
Kilimanjaro, kiliman, kiliman. Kilimanjaro, kiliman
Ah-AY, ah AY, Kiliman Ah-AY, ah AY, Kiliman
So sang Sungura Mjanjah, the clever rabbit, as he gazed upon the snowcapped peaks of Kilimanjaro (Mount Kilimanjaro) while contemplating the daily life of his village. Born in the bush, Sungurah Mjanjah always had a love for preserving the natural habitat and encouraging modesty with the use of our natural resources. He was always ready to playing lighthearted tricks on his friends, family, and neighbors to keep them mindful of things that affected everyone's well being.
"TUNA TAKA MAJI SASA TUNA TAKA MAJI SASA " (WE WANT WATER, NOW )" Sungura's village cried out one day when they thought Sungura had taken away their water and diminished the water supply in the local water well. Sungura had a plan, to remind everyone, "You never miss your water 'til your well runs dry."
