Stone Age Culture in Uzbekistan

This book presents a comprehensive analysis of the Stone Age in the territory of modern Uzbekistan, focusing on the Paleolithic and Mesolithic periods. It traces the development of early human societies from the earliest stone tools and settlements of the Lower Paleolithic to the more advanced cultural forms of the Upper Paleolithic and the Mesolithic. Particular attention is given to key archaeological regions such as the Ustyurt Plateau, the Kyzylkum Desert, and Central Fergana. The research explores material culture, subsistence strategies, types of dwellings, and aspects of spiritual life and social organization. A separate chapter is devoted to the physical anthropology of Stone Age populations and the chronology of archaeological sites. The work also addresses major methodological and historiographical issues in the study of early human history in Uzbekistan. By critically reviewing past research and highlighting current challenges, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of Central Asia's prehistoric heritage.
