Stiftungen und Reformation

Die Stiftungsurkunden und Testamente des 16. und frühen 17. Jahrhunderts bieten einen bedeutenden Einblick in die Rezeption der reformatorischen Veränderungen und das erstarkende Selbstbewusstsein der Bu¨rgerinnen und Bu¨rger im Sinne des »Priestertums aller Getauften«. Anhand dieses Quellenmaterials setzt sich die vorliegende Studie mit der Transformation des Stiftungswesens unter Berücksichtigung der Vielfalt der Reformation auseinander. Ein besonderes Augenmerk gilt dabei den religiösen Argumentationsmustern und der Frage, inwiefern sich Stiftungen als Gaben verstehen lassen.[Foundations and Reformation. A comparative study on the transformation of the foundations in the imperial towns of Nuremberg and Ulm in the 16th and early 17th century]The deeds of foundation and the testaments of the 16th and early 17th century give an important insight into the adoption of the reformational changes and the growing self-confidence of the townswomen and townsmen in terms of the "priesthood of all baptized". This study examines the transformation of the medieval foundations considering the plurality of the Reformation. The religious arguments and the question in what way foundations might be described as gifts are focused in particular.
