*He wants me to do WHAT? *

That's my reaction when I find out my promotion--the one I've earned and worked hard for over the past five years--is in jeopardy.

I'm Mandy Simon and I've been a Radio Promoter at SoundCheck, the biggest music promotion company in L.A., for five years now. I've worked my ass off to stand out and be taken seriously. A big part of what helped me do that is my Watch List.

Since before I started working at SoundCheck, I've kept a watch on all of the local musicians in SoCal. And I know which ones are gonna make it big, based on a list of factors I look for, like stage presence, song choices, and how their style fits with the current radio trends.

Ian Markus is gonna be big. Like boy-band big.

I bring him to SoundCheck's attention, so they can sign him and reap the benefits of how huge a star he's gonna be. That should be enough to secure my upgrade to Concert Promoter.

It should be... but it isn't.

Why? Because I make the mistake of dating my boss, Miles Anderson. (Technically Miles works for SoundCheck's parent company, Boyer-Cranston Investments, but he's currently acting as the SoundCheck Marketing Director until we get a new one.)

And when I break things off with him, he makes my professional life a living hell.

What's worse, he drags, Jake Taylor, one of the Boyer-Cranston clients into the mix and puts the company's investment at risk by giving me an ultimatum I don't see coming.

Now, not only is my promotion on the line but so is my reputation and my career.

And if I don't figure out how to do what he's asking of me, I'm gonna lose everything... including Jake, the Boyer-Cranston client I've fallen in love with.
