Simulation Technologies for Optoelectronics consists of two volumes. The first volume mainly discusses simulation technologies related to light, and the second volume mainly discusses simulation technologies related to electrons. Simulation Technologies for Optoelectronics, Volume 1: Light Waves starts with the propagation of light in free space and covers simulations of reflection and refraction, the behavior of Gaussian beams, optical multilayer films, planar optical waveguides, optical fibers, and more. Most of these discussions start with Maxwell’s equations. The book focuses on the analysis methods of the analytical and numerical simulation and visualization of analysis results, which is very helpful for easily understanding optical phenomena. This book particularly uses VBA animations in several chapters, which are useful for understanding the time-dependent behavior of physical phenomena, such as the propagation of light. Some of the Excel files used in the simulations in the text are included in Appendix I-A. Appendix I-B provides examples of animations related to the figures in each chapter. The reader will benefit from viewing the simulation results and will learn simulation techniques by downloading the Excel files for the simulation.
