"Bug out."She'd ignored the flickering signal of the satellite TV, and the fact that her best friend had conveniently shown up just as her father's text had ordered her to vacate their house and head for their hidden shelter on the Appalachian Trail. She didn't question it when her best friend had pushed her to go, offering to go with her. She'd loaded the car, letting him drive, and they'd left with her baby sister to head two hours to the place they'd now call home.Nothing seemed to be different. The radio played through the drive. The trip ran smoothly. Her phone was still working. Everything was fine. Until it wasn't.Something had gone horribly, terribly wrong, and now she was stuck with a toddler and someone who hadn't been totally honest with her, isolated on a mountain while the world went to hell around them. They have no one to rely on but themselves.
