Sexuality In Old Age

Sexuality in old age is a controversial topic in which many myths and prejudices prevail. Because of this, many people consider old age as an "asexual" stage. The aforementioned can cause uncertainty in the elderly, thus depriving them of experiencing sensations and feelings related to their sexuality. Thus, the elderly may experience some fear and anxiety when they do not understand the physiological changes of the stage. For this reason, the purpose of the research is the construction and validation of the Scale of Attitudes of Mental Health Professionals towards Sexuality in Old Age. It is of utmost importance to know what the attitudes of these professionals are. According to the literature review, the education received by the country's professionals on the subject is often insufficient. The sample used for the research consisted of 164 mental health professionals. These included social workers, counsellors, psychologists and psychiatrists. Participants had to be 25 years of age or older and were selected on the basis of availability.
